Beat the heat

1

Its been a long, tiring day. 7am mornings and 12 (maybe even later nights). A taste of what’s in store come June. School is less than a month away! But these people is one of the reasons why I don’t mind going back because I’m most likely to run into them every day (like today!) I love chance encounters that turn into awesome chillage especially along Katipunan.

Anyways, in order to beat the heat after last week’s hot seat and this week’s summer heat, we went swimming last Thursday in Vale Verde courtesy of Keena. It may have been wholesome bonding but it was fun nonetheless complete with awkward tension, shameless stalking, car conversations and dislocated shoulders. I’ve missed them terribly! Since I’m tired, I still have to write an article and sleep early for work and Tagaytay tomorrow, I’ll let the pictures do the talking instead. Continue reading

The second honey moon – Caliraya

1

Caliraya May 8-9

Thanks to BOB my summer’s been sprinkled with a little bit more wanderlust than usual. We’ve only been dating for about a month and yet wet we’ve already gone on two honey moons  where our escapades keep getting more and more  exciting. From jumping off cliffs in Bacolod to zip lining in Caliraya the best part is that we can both be luxurious and adventurous travelers who know how to rough it up in non-ac huts and still have a wild good time doing it. Personally the secret to an epic trip is doing more than just getting drunk and swimming. Thanks to Jaja who treated us for her birthday!

I know it’s a long over due photo blog but lately BOB isn’t the only thing that’s been demanding for my time.

It’s time for something that was beautiful to turn into something else that is beautiful.

Getting the ball rolling

Do you ever get a feeling that everything you’ve done in the past is slowly and unconsciously preparing you for your future? For example…

  1. Council work in high school (planning prom + other events + managing a team) = Events planning and project management in college
  2. Bamboo Telegraph Features Editor in high school = My sudden venture into STATUS and publishing
  3. Bamboo Television Anchor in high school = Cross my fingers for NU Rock Dj and UAAP Court side reporter!

The thought crossed my mind during our Post-mortum meeting last Wednesday (check previous entry). All the fussing and feedback felt oddly familiar except now the OC teenagers are replaced by OC adults. That will be us in the future perhaps? haha.

It’s reassuring to remind myself that the same thing applies for my present where I’m being conditioned for bigger and better things. This also includes the people I’m meeting along the way who are meant to help open windows of opportunity, exposing me to different paths I could possibly take. Most importantly they make dreams feel like they could be a reality. I could definitely name a few right now.

I feel like me 2-3 years ago and I’m excited! The unforeseeable future feels bright!

Anyways, last night was another great night. First, an awesome dinner at SOMS, the best and cheapest Thai restaurant you’ll ever find in the city, courtesy of Gab. He’s actually one of those people I feel can expose me to the industry, even if it’s just based on his stories which he has a lot of. Asides from that I enjoy our talks about music, love, and life (and all those philosophical tendencies in between.) For me, one of the strongest foundations for a friendship is being able to learn from each other.

Afterwards we headed over to Grams/Good Earth which was another great hangout with the Bacolodians. We must regularly go back here! Click for my pictures. I can’t wait for Fez to post his!

“You’re pretty busy for someone who has no school”

That’s what Marco told me the other day when he messaged asking why I was still up at 2:30 am. I had just come home from Eastwood with some of the Bacolodians and I still had to work on my STATUS article and my G! Magazine application which I ended up finishing this morning anyway. It was kinda counterproductive and useless because I stayed up till almost 5am and still woke up kinda early anyway (kinda early = before 12 haha.) Note to self: MUST STOP DOING THIS. Efficiency would be easier on my health (and so would less social media.) Continue reading

Good Burger, Good Vibes.

In college I’ve learned that you can meet all sorts of new people but few of which really stick around till the end. That’s why I never expect much or keep my hopes up because I’m aware of how transient these relationships can be. And it took me almost 2 years to realize that just because you get along with them, doesn’t mean that they’re your friends.  So I enjoy it while it lasts because really, we’ll never know who’ll be more than just a certain chapter of our lives so why not just enjoy the ride, right?

The latest chapter is what I like to call the “Bacolodians” aka the random group of friends I spent 4 days and 3 nights with in Bacolod. (Another post to follow about that awesome trip.)  I just came back from Burger Night at Chillis with them where there was a P120 promo on all burgers and not only was the dinner and trip sulit, but the friendship is too.

Honestly ever since the “Singles” group formed last sembreak I never thought I’d find another batch of friends whose chemistry feels as good as the burger meal I just had – unpretentious, filling and satisfying. With them I wouldn’t mind going for seconds, thirds or until there’s not enough space for anything more.
